Situated where Marbella and Benahavís meet, La Quinta is set around La Quinta Golf and Country Club, to the north of Nueva Andalucía, in the foothills of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and just a few minutes from Puerto Banús, San Pedro Alcántara and the beach.
History and iconic sites
The beginnings of La Quinta date back to the late 1980s, when Tomás Pascual, founder of Calidad Pascual, acquired land for the construction of a golf course in Marbella and started a series of real estate initiatives in the area. In 1992, after a few years of collaboration with Inmobiliaria Bilbao, La Quinta Real Estate Group was founded to directly manage the development of the properties. Since then, the company has developed more than 1,000 homes on more than 160 hectares of land. The new extension of La Quinta, Real de la Quinta, spanning 200 hectares to the north and northeast of the existing area is currently being developed. This new area is surrounded by open sea and country views and it is home to stunning residential and high-end leisure projects such as a large man-made lagoon, a lakeside pool club, gym, spa, restaurant, shops and the 5-star hotel Angsana by Banyan Tree

Also, schools in Marbella Centre and Golden Mile are not far, within an approximate 20-minute drive car ride.

Hiking fans have beautiful trails on their doorstep, with the most remarkable being the one to the Holy Chestnut, approximately 8 miles from La Quinta Golf Course. This chestnut tree has a perimeter of approximately 13,5 metres and it is thought to be the oldest tree in the whole of the Sierra de las Nieves, between eight hundred and one thousand years of age. There are also beautiful horse-riding routes in the area ranking as some of the most scenic in Marbella. Also, La Quinta is only 10 minutes away from the exclusive beaches of Puerto Banús and Golden Mile with its well-known beach clubs. Ultimately, the scenery features spectacular views surrounded by tranquillity and serene landscape.
Sports
La Quinta is the ideal location for golfers with not only La Quinta Golf and Country Club but also its proximity to the three world-class golf courses Los Naranjos, Las Brisas and Aloha Golf in the bordering Nueva Andalucía. Opened in 1989, La Quinta Golf was designed by Manuel Piñero, a Ryder Cup winner and 3-time World Champion. This magnificent 27-hole course is made up of 3 separate 9-hole courses, ensuring a great variety of competition. Legendary Severiano Ballesteros, Chema Olazábal and Manuel Piñero himself have competed in this renowned course. The Clubhouse has a gourmet restaurant with a scenic terrace enjoying spectacular views over the greenery and the Mediterranean Sea. Also, the new area within La Quinta, namely Real de La Quinta, will soon offer first-class sports facilities with tennis and paddles courts, watersports on the lake, a route around the entire lake for walkers, joggers, and cyclists, and a 6-hole golf course surrounding the lake. La Quinta is also home to Marbella Football Centre, one of the most exclusive football complexes in Europe for the world’s top clubs’ pre-season and training camps.
Hotels
The only hotel in La Quinta at present is the 5-star Westin Golf Resort and Spa. It has 170 rooms and suites, a Spa with thermal circuits, treatments and fitness facilities, a kids’ club, two restaurants and three bars, as well as a 27-hole golf course. Also, the hotels in Puerto Banús and Golden Mile are nearby at only 10-15 minutes’ drive away. The luxury 5-star Hotel Angsana Real de La Quinta by Banyan Tree is also due to open in 2026 in the new Real de La Quinta development.
Restaurants
The Sunsa Restaurant and the Club House Restaurant at the Westin Hotel are excellent choices for their exquisite dishes and spectacular views. In the area, one can also find Restaurante El Gamonal, a family-run restaurant offering exclusive traditional Spanish cuisine, including grilled meat and fish as its specialities. Of course, a varied list of exceptional restaurants can be found in the neighbouring Nueva Andalucía, as well as in Puerto Banús, San Pedro Alcántara , Golden Mile, all within a 20-minute range at most.
Essentials
There is a small convenience store and café with gourmet products, selected wines, fresh bread, newspapers, and magazines. For a wider selection of goods, the supermarkets in Nueva Andalucía, and San Pedro Alcántara are located only 10 minutes away, where one can also find the closest private hospitals and public health centres.
