Location
Nueva Andalucía, nestled into the foothills of La Concha Mountain and inland of Puerto Banús, is located between Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara. It occupies a small valley, now famously known as The Golf Valley, surrounded by mountain ridges and sea views.
History and iconic sites
When the first jet-set tourism development began with the Marbella Club Hotel in the 1950s, Nueva Andalucía was a large farming estate surrounded by fields of sugarcane and pastures, that extended between the fishing village of Marbella and the little agricultural community of San Pedro Alcántara. In the 60s, the Golden Mile was already an exclusive address, and by the time the new marina of Puerto Banús was completed, Nueva Andalucía too began to develop. Spanish real estate builder and developer Jose Banús first visited Marbella in 1962 and acquired the land. The construction of Puerto Banús started in 1965 and it was inaugurated in 1968. Soon after, the main infrastructure of Nueva Andalucía was installed as part of a wider urbanization plan for the Costa del Sol, which aimed to attract foreign tourists and investors. It was designed by the world-famous architect and designer, Noldi Schreck, who is particularly known for his works in Beverly Hills. His designs were influenced by Californian elements such as the sun, palms and sea-facing orientation properties; here all blended with Andalusian and Mediterranean touches. The area experienced rapid development throughout the 1980s with numerous villas, flats and resorts being built; and infrastructure such as roads, water supply, electricity and telecommunications were also further developed and improved. There was further growth in the 2000s and today this is an area still growing, full of attractive investment opportunities, where many savvy investors choose to buy older homes and renovate them.

Most homes here follow the Andalucía and Mediterranean architectural aesthetic, with white facades and patios; although one can also find modern and contemporary architectural style. Luxurious villas are often on large plots and located mainly around the fantastic leafy golf courses of Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, and Aloha. Exclusive gated developments of low-rise apartments and townhouse complexes, with communal pools and tropical gardens are located all around Nueva Andalucia with some of them being within walking distance of Puerto Banús.

Nueva Andalucía is one of the most sought-after residential areas for families in Marbella. Schools
Aloha College
An international and private school for children aged 3 to 18 years old which follows the English curriculum. Founded in 1982, it is one of the most prestigious schools in the Costa del Sol and one of the largest campuses in Marbella, with a broad sports area, as well as a science and art building.
Svenskan Skolan
A private Swedish school that follows the Swedish curriculum. Located next to Puerto Banús, the school welcomes children from 3 to 12 years old while children aged 13 to 18 follow an online education through two virtual schools based in Stockholm. It boasts great facilities, including a 25m pool, an artificial turf for football and a large garden for recreational activities.
The American College in Spain
A private American High School & University that offers a curriculum based on the US education system. Students can complete in Marbella the 4 years of High School and their first 2 years of university. Upon completion, students can continue in the US or in any other university in the world that offers the American education system to obtain a degree from an accredited American University.
Colegio Francisco Echamendi
A charter, Spanish-English bilingual school for children aged 3-18. It focuses on catholic education and teaching as well as the promotion and strengthening of Christian values within the community.
Public Schools
Colegio Jose Banús and Instituto Nueva Andalucía. Education is exclusively in Spanish but international families are welcome.

Nature
This is an area of natural beauty, with the iconic backdrop of La Concha Mountain. Just a few minutes from the busy coast, are quiet walking and hiking areas, while the beaches at Puerto Banús, San Pedro Alcántara or Marbella are no more than a five-minute drive away. One of the main attractions is Lago de las Tortugas (Turtles Lake), a green park zone with a large lake home to turtles and many breeds of water birds. It is a popular picnic spot with spectacular views of La Concha.
Golf
This area, known as Golf Valley, is a paradise for golfers, with three world-class, championship courses to choose from: El Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, founded in 1968 and Los Naranjos Golf Club inaugurated in 1977, both designed by the famed course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr.; and the Aloha Golf Club, designed by Javier Arana in 1975. They all offer challenging courses in spectacular scenery with fine clubhouse amenities and a great social life. There is also the Magna Marbella Golf Course, a 9-hole course designed by José María Elguezábal with excellent facilities such as the Magna Café restaurant, sauna, gym and driving range.
Other sports
Sports enthusiasts can enjoy various premium sporting facilities aside from golf. Tennis fans can take lessons at local professional clubs such as Manolo Santana Racquets Club, founded by tennis player Manolo Santana in 1997, and one of the most renowned racquets and sports clubs; the Aloha Tennis and Padel Club, an excellent club located next to the Aloha Golf Club; or Tennis Brothers Marbella, another renowned tennis club chosen by Boris Becker and Novak Djokovic as the training venue for the 2014 Australian Open. In addition, Nueva Andalucía has quite a few gyms with the latest modern equipment and personal trainers as well as a wide range of Yoga and Pilates options.
Nightlife
Nueva Andalucía is mainly a quiet and laid-back residential area where one has the option to head to the neighbouring Puerto Banús for a hedonistic nightlife. However, there are a few fabulous night-time venues, where glamour and fashion come together: Mosh Fun Kitchen, the perfect place for a fun night of dining with entertainment; Mogli Marbella, a pool club, restaurant and nightclub; Nomad, a sophisticated restaurant and club with a chic ambiance; or Air, a rooftop bar & signature cocktail terrace, part of the fantastic Breathe Restaurant. For a gaming experience, Casino Marbella offers an exceptional range of leisure and entertainment possibilities.

Most hotels are in the nearby areas of Puerto Banús and Golden Mile; however, one can find in Nueva Andalucía the Hard Rock Hotel Marbella, a unique, 4 stars hotel right across from Puerto Banús; and the charming Molo Luxury Suites Puerto Banús, a luxury guest house with 8 suites and rooms and a magnificent panoramic terrace.
Restaurants
Nueva Andalucía has a great selection of high-quality restaurants and bars, often clustered around popular hubs such as Centro Plaza, the old Bullring (today the entertainment venue, Marbella Arena Auditorium), and Aloha. One can find restaurants like La Sala, attracting a celebrity crowd; Vovem, for steak lovers; or Breathe, with DJs playing eclectic lounge music in stunning surroundings. There are also many excellent Japanese, Italian, and Indian restaurants in this area as well as many laid-back cafés and sports bars. Also, the golf clubhouses generally contain great restaurants with beautiful views over the fairways.
Essentials
Nueva Andalucía is home to several supermarkets, as well as an organic market and a few luxury delicatessen shops. Centro Plaza is a shopping, entertainment and business complex offering a good selection of clothing shops, beauty salons, gyms and more. On Saturdays, the area around the old Bullring and Centro Plaza is home to the popular street market that sells antiques, arts and crafts, local produce and leather goods. In terms of healthcare, the main public health clinic in the area is in La Campana. For private health services, Atlantic Clinic provides high-quality medical care to expatriates and holidaymakers on the Costa del Sol.
